Truths to Live By is a sharing book with 30 short reflections (“devotionals”) for nonbelievers, on themes of Scripture such as: being different, gratitude, justice, kindness, judging others, honesty, community and the difference a single person can make. The reflections are built on stories, from world events to biographical anecdotes to the author’s own experiences of migration, struggle and growth, and each includes a question to reflect on and an action to take, which are intended to awaken a hunger for spirituality and sow seeds for future discovery.

Many books about Christianity and Adventism already exist for those who are interested in learning what the Bible has to say. Truths to Live By is different. It is written for those who are not yet willing to examine the Bible directly—a description of a large proportion of Australia’s secular society—but who may be open to self-reflection and spiritual growth.

Written so it can be shared with anyone, regardless of their background, Truths to Live By is especially suited to secular young professionals and young families — people who might not be interested in Christianity yet, but who are open to reflecting on their personal growth and development, to sow seeds for further dialogue and discovery about God.
