The year 2017 is the 75th anniversary of the iconic Kokoda Track campaign in which Anzac forces halted the Japanese advance on Australia. Notably, they were assisted by local villagers—the “Fuzzy-wuzzy Angels"—some of whom were Seventh-day Adventists.
They saved the lives of many servicemen, whose descendants now make the trek—a pilgrimage—and are again assisted by Seventh-day Adventists carriers.
Signs of the Times has produced this glossy and durable 16-page souvenir for Adventist Kokoda Track villages to share with trekkers. But it is also suitable for Australia and New Zealand—for distribution at Anzac Day events and marches by Pathfinder clubs and in churches.
Its account of why the area is populated by Adventism subtly introduces the idea of the Sabbath; the story of Desmond Doss illustrates the place of conscience in the Adventist psyche; and its contemporary content describes life along the Track today.
